The requirement

Powerday is one of London’s largest recycling and waste management companies with a capacity to process two million tonnes of waste a year, producing high quality recyclables and refuse derived fuel.

A sales-lead organisation with a community focus, Powerday requires ongoing public relations assistance to support the company’s in-house sales and account management teams, and to raise awareness of the company’s business achievements, industry leadership and many community initiatives.

The solution

I have been providing ongoing public relations support to Powerday for over five years. This has included writing press releases, news stories and social media updates as well as features, opinion pieces and award entries.

I meet with Powerday’s Sales & Marketing Director monthly, determining the focus of our programme and discussing the initiatives to be covered that month. I maintain a three month plan of our forthcoming activity and a record of coverage received, write all communications, liaise with clients and other contacts over sign off, and maintain relationships with the media.

The outcome

With extensive knowledge of the company, its ethos, services and client base, I am able to prepare communications on topics ranging from new client wins, infrastructure and service developments, and RDF contracts to employment schemes for the disadvantaged and sponsorship schemes for boxing and rugby. This enables Powerday to maintain a high profile in the marketplace and a constant stream of up-to-date news on its website without taking up significant in-house resources.
